The Art of Nii Noi Nortey

Nii Noi Nortey is a Ghanaian musician resident in Accra. But more than a musician, he is also a visual artist.

He uses an eclectic array of artefacts, memorabilia and miscellaneous pieces, as his medium to assemble complex sculptors that reflect his equally complex persona.

Nii Noi has turned his home into a shrine to his musical journey.  Entitled the Anyaa Arts Library,  He is immediately ready to draw curious observers into his world of almost mystical creations. Many of his works are practical animate entities, which he is able to interact with for real world functionality.

Nii Noi’s residence and the arts library compete in a friendly rivalry for space.  Each room  poses a dizzy onslaught to the senses, just striking that magical spot between amazing and overwhelming.

Within the various sections of the arts library there are references to so many giants of musical history including the likes of John Coltrane and Bob Marley.  However, it is homage to legendary, Afro-Jazz initiator, Kofi Ghanaba, 'Odomankoma Kyerema – Divine Drummer',  that occupies a dominating position of the display. As well as illicit some of Nii Noi’s most poignant memories.

Visitors and residents of Accra can check out Nii Noi's visual art, at the Anyaa Arts Library.  Pemba Publishing is pleased to handle communications on behalf of this attraction and you can contact us for more information.
